There's a band from Toronto, Ontario called Mr. Something Something

that you might want to check out. They kind of have one foot in jazz (tenor and baritone sax, jazzy guitar) and one foot in afro-beat (esp. the drummer; Fela Kuti looms large in the set of influences of the band). Most of their tunes have vocals, so if you want instrumental jazz, they probably wouldn't qualify.

As to specific shows, you might try any of the ones from the second half of 2007, especially

Of particular note is the "segue sandwich" of "The Dis" into "The Invitation" back into "The Dis", with the (unplanned) transitions signalled by the tenor sax player.

Aloha,
Brad

catch me if you think having a bit of "out" jazz from Twin Cities artists would fit your mix.
